Club Stableford and Tradesmans' Bowl
It was great to get a competition played last weekend without any interruptions or cancellations. Micheal Kemp ran out as the overall winner with 42 points, he also collects the Tradesmans' Bowl (for up to 20 handicappers).
Other notable scores came from Guy Olson and Jon Mansell who carded 40 points each, Craig Andrews, Craig Manson, John Dennett, Simon Preece, Dennis Godley and David Wright all scored 38 points. A special mention goes to Peter Hill who scored a 'Hole in One' on the 5th Hole.
The two's sweep paid out to 15 lucky winners who receive £18 each.
Club Mid-Week Stableford
Gary Villis, David Sutton and Will Rowlinson all shared top spot on Tuesday with 39 points. Gary ran out as the overall winner on the back six holes. Other notables include James French and Clive Wheeler who both scored 38 points. The two's sweep paid out to three individuals who receive £18.66 each.
Seniors Arthur Hicks Salver
Sandy Kemlo is the recipient of the salver after his 39 points, he also takes the division two honors. Division one was won by Gorden Ogden with 38 points. There were three two's scored in the event but unfortunately no one scoring a two entered the sweep. The pot rolls over to the next seniors event.
The confidence of youth
How nice it was to see the British Masters return to our TV screens over the weekend. More than 57,000 spectators attended the event over the four days, and the crowds were treated to some top-class golf. If the numbers through the gates were impressive, how about the tournament winner? Matt Fitzpatrick, 21, completed a wire-to-wire victory in the kind of manner you'd expect from a player with twice the experience. He showed composure beyond his years, and two areas of his game stood out, particularly during the final round.
Firstly, his accuracy off the tee; he was by no means the longest, but he would prove true the old adage 'Driving is for show, putting is for dough'. In finding the fairway more often than not he let other areas of his game do the talking. He would have been forgiven for succumbing to the nerves down the stretch but time after time he holed clutch putts, and at pace, the ball hitting the back of the cup with authority.

Hopefully the young man's performance inspired you to get out and play. It was certainly nice to see so many young fans attending the golf, so well done to Mr Fitzpatrick and co for inspiring the next generation.
