Mid-week Stableford
Last Saturday saw the August medal take place and some low scores returned. Division One honours were taken by James Mitchell, his nett 68 was good enough to pip Chris Shipway and Ben Scammell by one stroke. Division Two was close at the top too, Tim Wheeler shot nett 69 for a one shot margin from Jamie Osment and John Andrews. Division Three saw the lowest scores with both Gary Birth and Tim Ayres returning impressive nett 67's.
Tuesday's mid-week competition saw a name from the weekend featuring again. Jamie Osment backed up his nett 69 from Saturday with 40 points for victory, second place went to Andrew McCall one point behind with 39 points.
Ladies 4BBB Open
Wednesday saw 72 ladies from home and away compete in a betterball event, top of the pile was Kathy Shiells and her partner Lesley Moore, both from Farrington Park, they amassed a very impressive 45 points to secure a comfortable seven point victory from three pairs who all scored 38 points. Amongst those was the top Clevedon pair of Carol D'Ammassa and Laureen Angell.
Ladies Mail on Sunday
The ladies team performed exceptionally to reach the seventh round of this national competition. They were the last team left in the competition from Somerset but unfortunately lost away to Trevose. They played extremely well and fought out some really close matches, but in the end home advantage prevailed. Many congratulations and thanks go to everyone who represented Clevedon Golf Club.
Team News
It is official: "We don't like Mondays", to paraphrase the Boomtown Rats song our third consecutive away match on a Monday and our third heavy loss! The Captain has been in the only winning pair on all three occasions, but he does pick his partners extremely well! Our away match on Tuesday at Mendip Spring showed only a marginal improvement but a return to home pastures against Isle of Wedmore on Thursday saw a comfortable team win at last.
