Open Qualifying

This week saw the Final Qualifying events for entry into this year's Open take place. Clevedon will have a representative in the golf world's largest event as a result. Ali Balcombe finished tied for first place at Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club and a result has gained a spot in The Open in two weeks time. We'll done Ali, a fantastic achievement and the very best of luck up at St. Andrews.

Men's and Ladies Club Championships

Last weekend saw the annual running of both Club Championships for the men and the ladies, the event was played in good conditions on Saturday but was fairly wet for the early starters on Sunday. The Men's Gross Championship was won by Ali Balcombe with a score of 144, the Ladies Gross Championship was won by Sally Anderson with a score of 174. Tom Rowlinson won the Men's Nett Trophy and the Ladies Nett Trophy went to Laureen Angell. We'll done to the champions and all who took part, it was great event.



Mail on Sunday Competition

The ladies won their Mail on Sunday match against Fingle Glen Golf Club today and are now through to round seven! This is a great achievement. Congratulations to the team of Sandra Jones, Merriel Horler, Marian Crewe, Heather Bleach and Rosemary Fife. We now look forward to finding out who they will play in round seven.



Senior's Results

Two good wins for the Seniors in their inter-club friendlies this week. Firstly a solid 6-2 away win at Knowle on a warm Monday was followed by a narrow win at home on Thursday in very wet conditions against The Bristol. In between the Senior's Scratch team narrowly lost their knock-out semi-final to Isle of Wedmore on a sultry afternoon at Wells, in a match that went to the last green of the last singles.
