Seniors' News
In a hard fought match at a sunny and relatively benign Burnham & Berrow, the Seniors' Rose Bowl Team progressed to the next round with a 3-2 win over Minehead. Just the next day, on a similarly sunny but breezy day at Clevedon, the Seniors' Team enjoyed a win over our old friends from The Manor House.
Ladies News
Carol Kirkwood and Sarah Martin played Thornbury at home in the BDLGA Handicap Foursomes. This was the second round after beating Shirehampton Park in the first round. At the halfway mark Carol and Sarah were two down and felt optimistic about a comeback, but the Thornbury ladies played the 10th, 11th and 12th to par and birdied the 14th and so unfortunately our ladies were beaten. 37 ladies competed in the Stableford and Barlow Cup qualifier on Thursday. Vicki Sach's 40 points was good enough to pip Sandra Hill's 39 points for the overall competition.
Ashley Mansell
Over the last couple of weeks Ashley has been showing continued form. He secured a second place finish in the Pro-Am at Celtic Manor 2010 course and just yesterday picked up a fifth place finish individually at Ross-On-Wye. His team of David Fife, David Shields and Rob Arthur finished second in the team event. Well played gentlemen!
Mixed News
Bank Holiday Monday brought sunny conditions for the Captains' Bank Holiday Mixed event. A 48 strong field competed in a bowmaker with only one of the gents and one of the ladies counting on each hole, a further twist meant that no individual could appear on the card more than twelve times. Close scoring meant that just four points separated the top five teams. Top of the pile was the team made up of Derek and Debbie Quinn-Hall, Paul Middleton and Jane Clark scoring 90 points.
Men's News
The regular Club Stableford took place on Tuesday with fine conditions and 37 competitors. Top of the pile was Andy Ferris compiling an impressive 42 points to secure top spot from Dave McGovern who amassed 40 points. Chris Hicks finished third with 39 points.
