Team News
The First Team secured their third consecutive victory last Friday with a 4-1 win at home against Henbury who were last year's Bristol and District League champions. The win sees them sit at the top of the league going into their fourth game. Well done to all the players and supporters, keep it going. It would be lovely to see as many people as possible out watching the next game which is at home against Long Ashton on Thursday, 4 June. Come along and give them your support.
Last Sunday saw the Second Team achieve a respectable halved match against Farrington Park.
Invitation Day
A bright but breezy day greeted the 55 pairings that took place in the Men's Invitation day last Saturday. The competition was played in betterball format using 3/4 handicaps. Bryan Bananhan and his partner John Wylde came out victorious with 43 points, which was good enough for a countback win over Hugh Wilson and Norman Pimm. We also ran a twos competition for the day, there were ten twos in total that saw each two worth one dozen Callaway Chrome Soft golf balls.
The ladies played a B Team match on Monday away against Isle of Wedmore. The result was a close one but we unfortunately lost 6/8. Sally Anderson, Sarah Martin and Rosemary Fife all won their matches which was a good result for an away match. Sarah came from three down, Rosemary came from four down and Sally was nip and tuck as they all won on the 18th. Nail biting stuff!
The Tradesman's Bowl was won by Sarah Martin with an aggregate two round total of 153. This secured a narrow one shot victory over Hilda Shields on 154. Debbie Quinn-Hall finished in third place a further shot back on 155.
After a very wet start to Monday in Clevedon, 35 seniors managed to miss most of the worst of the weather and enjoy a great 'Away Day' at St Mellon's Golf Club near Cardiff. The rain necessitated the host venue setting us some tricky pin positions on the higher parts of the greens, but their hospitality was such that the travellers forgave them.
On a sunny but windy Thursday the seniors completed the double over The Mendip with a comfortable win at home.
