Seniors
Well this week was definitely a 'game of two halves'. On Monday the Seniors basked in sunny warm weather whilst enjoying a narrow win away at The Mendip. Then on a miserably wet Thursday the match at home against Enmore Park had to be called off. Let's hope the Senior's Away Day at St Mellons on Monday enjoys more of the former weather than the latter.
Jim's Jamboree
A great day (and evening) was had by all competitors in Jim's Jamboree, an event to celebrate the work of Jim Cunning over the last fifteen years.
The winning team was made up of Welsh MacKendrick, Mike Morfitt, Dave Barnes and Phil Osman who scored an impressive 113 points. Second place went to Phil Mills, Ian Dibble, Hugh Wilson and Dave Sutton on 109 points.
Club Mid-Week Stableford
A sunny but windy day saw an impressive 48 players take part. Best of the day was Gary Villis who scored 39 points and runner up was Wayne Neale scoring 37 points.
Team News
The first team secured their second win of the season at home defeating The Kendleshire by 3-2. The final pairing of Myles Angell and Craig Manson got the rest of the team's hearts beating after wobbling from three up with five to play to being one down after 17. Solid nerve was shown however as they won the last hole for a halved match and a win for the team.
Ladies Sunday Medal and Dickinson Qualifier.
A small field gathered on Sunday for this event which saw Charlotte Millington (aged 12) walk away with the spoils her nett 75 was good enough to pip Carol Kirkwood on a countback.
Ladies Tradesman's Bowl
The first round of the multi-round Tradesman's Bowl took place on Wednesday. The half way leader is Merriel Horler (fresh from a golf lesson a few days earlier with myslef!), she's five shots clear of Sarah Martin and six clear of Hilda Shields going into the second round which takes place next Wednesday.
