Jim's Jamboree
To mark Jim's retirement, the Board intend to organise a Club Golf Day on his behalf. The format will be similar to that arranged for Rob Scanlan and will take place on Saturday, 9 May. The competition will take the form of a team of four Bowmaker with two from four to count on all holes, except holes 8 and 16 where all four will count. There will be double points on holes 5 and 13. There will be nearest the pin on all the par 3's, nearest the pin in 2 on hole 18 and the longest drive on hole 15.
The entry fee will be £10 per person payable in the pro shop and I will also run a 2's competition. Bookings will be taken in the Clubhouse on Friday, 24 April starting at 5pm and posted on the Masterscoreboard website at 5:15pm.
If there is anyone (or anyone you know) who would like to sponsor/donate prizes for the nearest/longest holes please let either myself or Mike Parker know. There will be a formal presentation to Jim in the Clubhouse at 8pm followed by a prize giving ceremony. The expectation is that all winning teams will be represented in the evening. For those who are unable to attend, there is card for signature and a retirement collection currently available behind the bar.
Over the last couple of weeks we have been running a survey asking you which you see as most important when you buy golf clubs: Brand, Price or Fit.
Well I can tell you the results were overwhelming in favour of Fit with 84% of you thinking this was most important. 8% of you thought that Price was most important and 8% thought that Brand was the most important criteria when buying golf clubs.
Congratulations to Glen Twiselton who was drawn out at random from those that entered and wins the dozen Callaway Supersoft golf balls.
Junior Stableford - Sunday, 19 April
The first junior competition of the year was played in bright but chilly conditions. The winner was Alfie Hocking with a suberb haul of 43 points, Rhys Cunningham was second with 39 points. Both boys have reduced their handicaps as a result, well done to them.
Club Mid Week Medal - Tuesday, 21 April
Chirs Tucker's nett 70 was good enough to see him triumph by one from Alister Meredith who's early season form has seen his handicap fall from 16 to 13 this month!
Ladies EG Medal & Hall Cup - Thursday, 23 April
Well done to Sarah Martin who was the winner of this event. She finished the day two shots clear of the field overall and also securing first place in division two. Division one was won by Debbie Quinn-Hall and Jane Kenhard took the spoils in division three.
Ladies 'B' Team
The 'B' team have played two matches in the last week or so, one at Saltford which saw them triumph by a score of 10-2 and they also played a home match against Isle of Wedmore winning by 12-2. Well done ladies, keep it going!
Ash Mansell
Ash has been representing Clevedon GC in the assistant's sprint sponsored by Titleist and FootJoy. After the first three events (two of which he has won!), he is leading the order of merit. The last event of the series takes place next week at St. Mellons Golf Club. Best of luck to him for this event!
