Welcome to the Team

A great addition to our Team!

We're pleased to announce a new member of the Pro Shop team, Claire Hobbs.

Claire has been a PGA Professional since 2008, qualifying in 2011 whilst working at Chippenham Golf Club, gaining the Female Assistant of the year award.

Claire has been working in the area for 3 years now, at Isle of Wedmore and Henbury Golf Clubs.

Claire enjoys all aspects of her work including shop duties, coaching, club repairs and playing with members whilst her coaching experience includes individual and group lessons, specialising in ladies, juniors and disability including outreach work within the local community.

Claire is looking forward to progressing her career by joining the Pro Shop team at here Clevedon Golf Club and taking the time to meet you all over the coming weeks.

How is your game?

Make 2021 your best year yet!

With the arrival of a new member of the Pro Shop Team we have been planning our offerings for the coming year.

We have had to take look at our coaching prices based on several factors including the facilities we now use and subsequent investment, and most importantly the quality of the services we provide.

As there has been no real increase in coaching prices since 2015 our standard coaching prices for April onwards are listed below:

30min Individual Lesson £25

45min Individual Lesson £35

60min Individual Lesson £45

Although there is a slight increase across the board we feel these prices still represent exceptional value and all three of us will be offering a 6 for the price of 5 throughout the coming year.

In addition to regular individual coaching sessions, Luke will be helping you get back into golf after the lockdown restriction with the following two offers:

Bryson's dominance continues

Austin Ernst stormed to victory at the LPGA Drive On Championship, going wire-to-wire to finish on -15 and cruise past Jennifer Kupcho by five strokes, despite the 2019 Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion’s 72nd hole eagle.

Meanwhile, Bryson DeChambeau was anything but cruising as Lee Westwood forced a straight shoot-out on Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Bay Hill Invitational. The American was victorious, though, thanks in part to driving 370+ yards over a lake on the par-5 sixth hole on both Saturday and Sunday. Talk about entertainment!

The golfer's new clothes

Then & now!

Whenever a brand new driver comes out, it’s hard to imagine things getting any better. There have been some incredible innovations in recent years and who’s to say where we’ll be in 15 years? Why don’t we take a deeper dive into how old drivers compare to the latest models?

PING drivers from 2006 vs. 2021

If we take PING drivers as an example, we can look at the 2006 G5 driver – a beloved figure on courses around the world in its heyday - compared to the various models in the brand-new PING G425 driver range. The G5 did give you a higher, more forgiving launch than most clubs at the time, and even came in an offset version to appeal to a wider range of golfers.

Taking that to another level, the G425 comes in a Max (maximum MOI), LST (low-spin technology) & SFT (straight flight technology) models, meaning all players are catered for. The Max version is PING’s most forgiving driver ever; leaps & bounds beyond our old-favourite G5, whilst the LST is compact and adjustable for workable ball flights and the SFT is weighted to help fight the slice.
