As well as our other regular features, we take a trip down memory lane this week as we explore how far driver technology has come in one of our articles.

Welcome to the team

Luke Derrick has been an assistant at Henbury Golf Club for the past 3 years and has just joined the team here are Clevedon. As an amateur he represented Gloucster golf union achieving a scratch handicap at the age of 17.

Luke is currently on his final year of obtaining his PGA qualifications and is committed to delivering the best service possible to all golfers. Luke has helped to develop a popular junior academy and hopes to establish something similar here at Clevedon with his growing reputation in the area as a coach to all ages and abilities.

Luke is currently competing in PGA South West Region and has had a successful session with multiple top 5’s including a win at the Taunton and Pickeridge Pro-Am and a second place finish in Clevedon’s-own Pro-Am, finishing 7th on the the seasonal order of merit standings.

Rahmbo runs riot...

To some back in his homeland, Jon Rahm is already the King of Spain and he cemented his status as Spain’s number one golfer with a five-shot victory in a home-grown top three lockout at the Open de Espana.

In the end, it proved quite comfortable for Rahm who converted his five-shot overnight lead into victory ahead of Cabrera-Bello (-17) and Del Val (-15).

Perhaps more importantly for Rahm, the win - his third of 2019 - puts him in pole position in the lucrative Race to Dubai standings, leapfrogging Open Champion Shane Lowry to top spot.

The victory also sees Rahm jump to fourth in the World Rankings, with three Europeans currently occupying three of the top five positions (Rory McIlroy second & Justin Rose fifth).
