Seniors' Somerset Bowl
Our Seniors Somerset Bowl team played The Mendip Golf Club at Stockwood Vale recently and ran out victorious with a 3-2 scoreline in a very close match. Ian Saynor Captained the side and won his match partnered by Mike Parker, David Shields and David Fife also won their match. The third and final point came from Will Rowlinson and Derek Tate. The team will face Oake Manor in the next round.
Ladies 'A' Team
The 'A' Team had a terrific win against Saltford last Friday, they won the match by a score of 12 points to 2 points. The team was made up of Merriel Horler, Debbie Quinn-Hall, Sandra Jones, Alison Lee, Linda Reynolds, Sue Tasker and Sandy Hill.
They also defeated Filton on Monday by 10 points to 4 points and as such go top of the league. Great work ladies, keep it going.
Invitation Day
Saturday saw some great scoring in the Invitation Day, as ever the event was a fourball better ball format played off 90% of handicaps. The father and son combination of Denis and Alex Godley amassed 45 points to take victory. A rundown of the prize winners are as follows:
- Denis Godley and Alex Godley - 45 points.
- Chris Martin and James Poole - 44 points.
- Dave Young and Martino D'Aliesio - 44 points.
- Simon Preece and Ed Davies - 44 points.
- Bob Anderson and Alan Walker - 42 points.
Macmillan Longest Day
On Sunday, 18 June three of our members (Adam Williams, Sam Charman and Oliver Trevarthen) took part in the 72 hole challenge run by Macmillan Cancer Support. The day, which happened to land on the hottest day of the year so far, started at 4:10am courtesy of The Bristol Golf Club and Rich Ponsford, followed by three rounds at Clevedon starting at 7:20am, 11:00am and 4:00pm where they found the course was in excellent condition.
