Five Nations Challenge

Last weekend's Five Nations Challenge, that was played to coincide with the culmination of the Six Nations Rugby, was thwarted by poor visibility and thus was unable to be completed. Most of the competitors did manage to take advantage of Brian and Max's fish and chips or pie and chips however.

A new date has been arranged for Saturday, 29 April and as such the Team Captains will be inviting entries over the next couple of weeks.

If you missed it, the R&A are undertaking a Rules modernisation initiative where they're aiming to make the Rules easier to understand, trying to address some of the game's current problems, such as speed of play, and ensure they fit the needs of today's game.

We gave you the opportunity to have your say on some of these changes in a recent survey, and we've now gone through your answers and there are some interesting outcomes. The vast majority of you agreed with most of the proposed changes, and it's easy to see why, but there was one particular change which had you split:

A golfer is no longer required to drop the ball from shoulder height; just one inch above the ground is fine

Is there any issue with the current ruling on dropping a ball from shoulder height? Will this quicken the speed of play? It's up for debate, and that's exactly what our survey was designed for. We've been having deliveries on an almost daily basis over the last couple of weeks and as such the shop is now fully stocked with the latest additions from all of the major suppliers. The latest addition which has hit the shelves this week is the spring/summer 2017 collection from Under Armour. We have a full selection of shirts, slipovers, jumpers, trousers and even footwear to have everyone layered and able to cope with whatever our weather throws at us. Also hitting the shelves in the last few days is the new collection of FootJoy apparel with the club crest embroidered on the chest, these have turned out amazing and look great. It's approaching that time of the year when all of us golfers get excited about the start of the golfing season.
