Hello golfers,

With the recent acquisition of Sky TV, the club is intending to celebrate the rapidly approaching Ryder Cup by providing additional catering and a bar extension on the final day, to allow members to give their lubricated support to the European Team.

If you really feel like getting in the mood on the Sunday, why not enter the Gillard Plate? This competition is held every four years when the Ryder Cup is held in the USA and is a charity event in aid of Cancer Research, organised by Steve Parker. The entry fee is £10 per person, with £5 going to the charity and £5 to prizes. The format is an 18 hole stableford competition, off the yellow tees, played in groups of two or three. Please enter through the pro shop as you would for the Mid-week Stableford/Medal. The tee will be available from 11:00am - 12:30pm and 2:00pm - 3:00pm. A prize presentation will take place at 7:00pm in the clubhouse.

For those all those that come along and support the event, I hope you have a very special evening and the result is the one we all desire.

 

Ladies EG Medal and Secretary's Cup

Linda Reynolds took the overall honours in last Wednesday's ladies event. Linda scored an impressive nett 71 to be three shots clear of the next player. Well done Linda. Full results were as follows:

Division One - First place - Carol Kirkwood (Nett 74), second place - Heather Priestley (Nett 76) and in third place - Marian Crewe (Nett 78).
Division Two - First place - Linda Reynolds (Nett 71), second place - Avril Thomas (Nett 74) and in third place - Noreen Conway (Nett 75).
Division Three - First place - Alison Hodgson (Nett 74), second place - Juliet Hagley (Nett 79) and in third place - Judy Olsen (Nett 80).

No twos were recorded so the pot rolls over to the next event.

Club Nine Hole Stableford

It was a brotherly result in the Nine Hole Stableford with Oliver Hayden pipping brother Tom by one point for top place. They scored 19 and 18 points respectively, well played chaps.

Ladies 'B' Team

I am delighted to tell you that our 'B' Team won last Friday against Weston-Super-Mare 'B' team at home with a 12 - 2 score. This result means that not only have the team guaranteed promotion, but will also be crowned league winners. The team on Friday was; Carol Kirkwood, Rosemary Fife, Heather Priestley, Sue Bamford, Marian Crewe, Alison Lee and Sue Tasker.

Well done to all the ladies who have contributed to the success of the team during the season.

 

Senior Women's Brenda King Foursomes

We have had the privilege of hosting the Senior Women's Brenda King Foursomes with 82 ladies from all across the country traveling to take part in this prestigious event. High praise has been received all round so many congratulations to all involved both behind the scenes and taking part.
