Club Championship 2016
Last weekend saw the annual running of the Club Championship. 108 competitors started the journey on Saturday, but after Saturday's play, the field was cut to the top 63 players (and ties). Sunday's play started off in reasonable conditions, but the threat of heavy rain was looming over the leading groups. Luckily the heavens didn't open (although there was some rain) and play was successfully completed.
Club Champion for 2016 is Ali Balcombe who's scores of 67 and 71 were good enough for a seven shot victory over Andrew Ferris and eight shots over James Mitchell. James' scoring was good enough to secure the KK Cup, which is the Nett Trophy. Click here to see a full list of results.
How do you hit a draw?
We get asked this a lot, probably because so many golfers struggle with a distance-robbing slice. A soft draw is a great shot to have at your disposal as it gives you a bit more distance. However, there’s a big difference between a soft draw and a hook – so here are a few tips for you.
Try altering your set-up by aiming your feet and body right of your target line, whilst keeping your clubface aimed at the target. We want you to swing as normal; closing your body towards the target and taking your normal swing will mean your path is altered more naturally. Do this correctly and you should swing along your body line and right of target, which creates the desired draw shape.
Don’t forget to come and see us if you want any help with your swing, or if you’re looking to add a new shot to your armoury. Click here to request a lesson.
The Open Sweepstake
We will shortly be launching our Open Sweepstake, this sweep will have a different format from what we've traditionally done for the Majors. The Open is the premier golf tournament in the world and as such we've teamed up with Titleist to bring you all something a little different. Prizes are as follows:
First prize - Vokey SM6 wedge (£120 value).
Second prize - Titleist lightweight cart bag (£110 value).
Third prize - Two dozen Pro V1 balls (£84 value).
Fourth prize - Titleist pencil bag (£45 value).
Fifth prize - One dozen Titleist DT TruSoft balls (£20 value).
